Adams Boys

Adams Boys was Greek instrumental/beat/garage band from Athens. They released a few singles which are rather rare today.

Here is a complete single from their 1967 vinyl release. Simple beat, raw organs, surf guitars - that makes me feel dizzy.

Rock Hotel

Well, I'm planning to write not about retro music, but also newly recorded :P

The only important thing is that it should fit well in the roots.

Rock Hotel is Estonian rock'n'roll band. Since 1978 they have released many albums. And it was good to know that they are still in active with their all-time leader Ivo Linna, and had a new album out in 1995. When I discovered this band for myself I was blew away by the song "Rockabilly Rock" (recorded in 1981). And I was blew away again when I heard their song "Let's All Rock Together" from their '95 album "Aeg Meid Muutnud On". Listen and decide for yourself.

Line-up:
Ivo Linna - vocal,
Tiit Kõrvits - lead guitar.
Heigo Mirka - bass guiatr,
Margus Kappel - keyboards,
Harry Kõrvits - drums.

Vadim Ludvikovskiy Orchestra

Well, here's another place to share various artists of mine. Expect a lot of European retro music & other oddities from near and there. I'll try to bring the best possible quality.

Ok, let's start tonight with Vadim Ludvikovskiy Orchestra.

For those, who don't know, Vadim Nikolaevitch Ludvikovskiy is the bandleader and composer. He was born on on 23 April 1925, and like many other children he started to play piano and later clarinet. His musical talent leds him to condact Army ochestra in Belorussia when he was only 19 y.o.

He was a good arranger and after the WWII he became a condactor in National Jazz Orchestra. In the meantime he tried to make his own band. Since 50's his orchestra (sometimes called Ansamble Of Soloists) has been releasing 78 RPM's, and later EP's and LP's, making shows all other USSR.

He wrote for musicals, mition pictures and soon became one of the best dance and swing orchestras in USSR. They were rather popular. Some of the best jazz and swing musiciants played in this orchestsa, like Georgiy Garanyan (sax), Konstantin Baholdin (trombone), Boris Frumkin (piano), just to name a few.

In the early 1970's the orchestra disbanded.

Here's a sample of Vadim Ludvikovskiy Orchestra music: theme from the motion picture "Lubit'" written by Mikael Tariverdiev (1963)
