Posledniy Zhulik (Rīgas Kino Studija, 1966)
I like this film very much. It is one of the most outstanding Soviet comedys. It has some mystery around it and beautiful music by Mikael Tariverdiev.
The film was released in 1966, and you can feel the spirit of the time here, in the picture and in the music.
The film is about a burgular Petya (actor Nikolay Gubenko), who after having been spended a lot of time in prison, finally is free (because the city of the future doesn't need prisons anymore :). In the city he met a pretty girl and fall in love. However his professional skills were far away from the life in the city. Soon, the money got cancelled in the city. Everyone was happy, and Petya changed his mind on everything.

The soundtrack was recorded by Eric Tyazhov ensemble together with vocal ensemble, which Eric originally formed for the VIO-66 big-band. Instrumental ensemble features, among others, Yuri Muhin on electric guitar, G. Melnikov on double bass, and D. Bekkerman on drums.
Music from this film was released on vinyl EP in 1967 (Melodiya Records, D 18311-2). The lyrics for the final song were written by Soviet poet Vladimir Vysotskij. The song was performed by Nikolay Gubenko himself.
It's a very kind movie. I wish there were more such pictures!
