Radio Nord

Radio Nord was an offshore radio station, operating for one year in the early 1960s. While the main office was in Stockholm, the station itself was located on a ship - cargo vessel MV Bon Jour.

I guess Radio Nord that was the first Swedish offshore station traslating popular music. Equipment included 10 000 watts AM transmitters. The station was heard in Sweden, southern Finland and parts of eastern Europe.

There were own and regular Top 20 lists transmitting every month.

The station was also one of the first stations in Europe to use radio jingles. It seems to me that the jingle below was recorded by vocal ensemble The Monn-Keys.

Trio Lescano

Sometime I like to refer back to some of my old favourite records. Today is the day for a beautiful female trio from the 1930s. The three girls were born of an Hungarian father and a Dutch Jewish mother. They were from Holland, where they made their first vocal steps.

Then they left their motherland for Italy, and became Trio Lescano over there. The youngest sister was only 15 years old back then. However, they took Italy by storm.

Band leader Pippo Barzizza, with his orchestra, recorded many of Trio Lescano's highlights, remembered that they were hard workers. I guess that's one of the reasons that their songs and harmonies are so free, light and full of fresh air.

So, let's give an air for three sisters: Alexandra, Judith and Kitty Leschan, which remains three young and beautiful girls - Trio Lescano.
